Who We Are SCOW Facebook Page  SCOW Picasa Page

The Sailing Club of Washington DC welcomes people who have never sailed, "old salts" who've sailed for years, and those who just enjoy socializing with sailors.

We're an 100% volunteer-run organization. Our members collectively own both the 25' keelboat "cruisers" and the Flying Scott centerboard boats in our fleet.  We keep our boats at Washington Sailing Marina on Daingerfield Island, just off the George Washington Parkway, south of Reagan National Airport.

Our Members pay annual dues to participate in member-only events such Training, Racing, River Excursions and Raft-Ups. They pay an additional fee to become Skipper certified. All members who are certified SCOW skippers have access to the reservation system for the type of boat they are certified on.

You may want to join us at our open-to-the-public Social Sail on Thursdays at 6 pm, late April to late September. You can join a crew on-board a Flying Scott for a 30-minute sail and you'll meet some of our members and some members of the Board as well.  Or, come to one of our Membership Meetings, held once a month, September through May.  SCOW's Events Calendar on our website's main page has details.

Our website is your best source of information about our Club:  our activities, our By-Laws, the sailing opportunities we offer --- and Frequently Asked Questions.

Our Membership Director and our Commodore would be very happy to answer questions that might remain. Please contact membership@scow.org OR commodore@scow.org
